In 1952 the company (operating as Elektro-Praga Hlinsko, a state-owned enterprise) started the first production of vacuum cleaners in the Czech Republic. The name of the company was changed to ETA in accordance with the trademark in 1996.
For some time in the early 2000s the company took a turn on cars and the production of components for the automotive industry but in 2008 it started to focus entirely on household appliances, highlighting its devotion to homes with an Onyx vacuum cleaner, the best-selling vacuum cleaner in 2009 in the Czech Republic.
