The Maya series was created in 1962 and has been a certain "family silver" of Scandinavian design ever since. Cutlery is characterised by a handle that tapers forward in a triangular pattern. In 2000, Stelton updated this classic design, resulting in the Maya 2000 series . The individual pieces of stainless steel cutlery are thus slimmer, longer and overall more aerodynamic than their older siblings. However, they still retain the typical, almost circular scooping part.
The entire 24-piece set includes six pieces of each cutlery: forks, knives, large spoons and small spoons.
The Maya series has been awarded several prestigious design prizes, has been selected for the world's best design and has been exhibited in museums such as MoMA in New York and London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
